I've tried looking through old posts to find what I am looking for, but I think I need help. I am a little desperate.
I have severe respiratory issues, and some three other health issues, and my doctors have finally convinced me to move. I need someplace with a mild climate (40-70 degrees most days) and clean air. I've taken trips to various places near the ocean, and for some reason the salt air helps even more. My docs say this is common. While the move will eliminate the weekly ER visits, I do need to be no more than 30 minutes from an ER because things will still happen. I need lots of xrays and labs.
The problem? My disability is only $1100 because I needed to quit working so young. Being near a hospital eliminates most cheap, rural areas. If absolutely neccessary I can live in my car, if the police won't hassle me, but I can't stay where I am. Without a move my life expectancy is seriously shortened.
As a bonus, I'd like to be able to make some friends. I'm 31, female. Here, many people turn their noses at people on disability, assume you're scamming the system, especially being younger.
From what I've read in a blue state I'd probably qualify for more benefits, stretching my money, but the higher cost of living would probably still be too much. I'm assuming my $1100 needs to cover it all.
Does anyone have any ideas? I worry this place doesn't exist on my budget, but I am so tired of living in the hospital.
Anywhere right along the Oregon or Washington coast. Or maybe the northern California coast.
Probably those are going to be the only areas that meet that requirement.
EDIT: And when I say "on" the coast I mean ON the coast. Some ideas:
Astoria, OR
Aberdeen or Ocean Shores, WA
Maybe Port Angeles, WA (though that will get below 40 somewhat often)
Any town along the Oregon coast. Lots of them.
Crescent City, CA
Mostly are sleepy towns, but can't do much about that. Only big city in that area would be the SF bay area, but that's too expensive.

Maybe coastal CA or OR? High humidity would be necessary to keep the temperatures from getting very high or very low. I can't think of any other area that would limit temperatures in that range.
But if you're inside - receiving care, etc. - seems like the temperatures outside wouldn't matter much.
Cost of living sounds like it would be the more critical factor, and that'd probably rule out CA and OR.
Maybe coastal North Carolina?
