Surprisingly, I think the last time that I went in a natural body of water was when I was 14 (so like, 6 or so years ago) in Arizona. I lived in California but it was just too trafficy for me to want to go to the beach ever.

The waves were pretty nice in Milwaukee this morning. I'm sure there were some surfers out at Atwater Beach.

In Florida, I've gone swimming in the ocean as late as October. In Minnesota, as late as September.

I like warm water for swimming.

Christmas 1997 was really hot and we went to my aunt's neighbour's pool that year. I have vague memories of that day. (ask me about July 4th, 1999 tho lol. Day I thought I was gonna drown.) I don't remember swimming at the beach in winter, though. Earliest would be in March. (spring break)

Even in summer?? I've swam in a MN lake between May-September and we're much further north than you guys.

Don't listen to him/her. Plenty of people swim in Northern Ohio, my childhood-self included. I grew up close to Lake Erie.

I'm actually surprised you said you don't swim in FL in the winter. That's when all us Northerners go down there for a dip. I took my kids down for a long weekend last February to escape the snow for a few days and we swam every day. Ocean and pool.

I've jumped into Lake Erie as early as Mother's Day (not recommended unless it's really really really hot out) and as late as mid-October, when the water is generally warmer than the air.

I prefer Headlands myself.
