In other words, which city in 2018 looks like a more matured version of Austin for better or worse? Which city already went through those growing pains in the 90s and 00s?

The growing amount of housing in Downtown Austin and large central university suggest a more urban future than those examples.

...and as housing costs continue to climb there, expect the metro to continue sprawling, just like those examples (and many others).
