I was a little shocked that I happened to get New York after taking the 30-question exam, since I'm indifferent on certain issues. HSW's description was:

Quote:
You have good manners for the culture that you come from - but some people don't quite understand that culture. Those people think you're brusque, domineering and entirely too busy for your own good. Of course, they're not New Yorkers, like you. You're just trying to respect people's time by cutting to the chase.
I work right next to DC, so I have a bit of that "big city" experience, but I'd think a state like PA, MD, IL, MO, or OH would come up first.

This is contrast to the Yankee or Dixie quiz from the 2000s, where I'd score right around 50.

Idaho.

Quote:
Your manners are best summed up by the phrase, "Trust, but verify." You're polite, but you're aware that not everyone is as gentle and decent as you'd like them to be. That means that you don't lower your guard fully at first. Your manners belong on the frontier, where loyalty really matters, but so does not being a sucker!
Eh, I like the panhandle.

Louisiana? Who knew?

You are incredibly polite on the face of it, but when someone really deserves it, you know how to be as cutting as possible.

You're a good person with impeccably gracious good manners, but you're not a doormat. You just know the difference between "bless your heart," the blessing, and "bless your heart," the deadly insult. That's why you belong in Louisiana!

Chicago native...of southern born parents, but Louisiana?

I guess mine should be the state of apathy. I had no interest in opening the link. Or maybe that means the state of paranoia?

Couldn't finish the test because the answer to "How do you thank somebody for a nice evening" wasn't on the list. I tell them in person. And I have never brought a phone to the table, in fact, I've never brought a phone into someone elses house. Mine stays in the car, off.

Being a Philadelphian, I'm not surprised I ended up with New York!

Idaho. I don’t know if the description fits Idahoans, but it does fit me.
