I will be relocating with my wife and two kids (under 3) in a few months, I have several options with my company, but I don't know much about the cities. The choices in no particular order:

I would like a relatively 'safe' environment and one where the apartments aren't ridiculously expensive. I will definitely want to rent for a while until I know I'll be there for several years and until I know the right area. What would you recommend and why?
