This area really does up the displays at Christmas (probably to compensate for the lack of snow). The county has even published an online directory of displays for visitors.

Come on down!
Actually, we'd love to. We head down I-95 going from Charlotte to Orlando when we visit Disney. We like taking our time going down and enjoying the journey (Beaufort SC, Jekyll Island GA, St. Augustine FL). The next time we head down on a December trip, your neck of the woods is on our way. I'll put that link in my travel list file. My wife and I LOVE the various ways people/communities/etc. decorate. No two are the same

We go down to the Fredericksburg, TX area every few years in December and while it's not SPECTACULAR, I love the lights on the main square, as well as along the riverwalk in San Antonio. We just got back from there a couple of days ago, and this time we rented a log cabin, and when we walked in that first evening, they had Christmas music going and festive lights strung up and a little decorated tree - it was fabulous! I got all teary eyed in fact. Wow, that Christmas bug bit me hard that evening and I'm still feeling it!

Our next door neighbors won the local Yard of the Month with their Christmas decorations. I am living vicariously through them - we only put up a few lights, though we did put wreaths on every window and a big one on the front door. I like sitting around our fire pit in the evening and listening to THEIR Christmas music wafting through the cold air from their front yard. It feels very festive!

Anyway, here are a few photos of Texas Hill Country lights:

My wife and I do like to travel, but we're usually home (Charlotte area) spending Christmas with our 4 young adult children (23-27) and other family members. My favorite for a vacation at Christmas is Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. My favorite for a day trip would be Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. Both are simply stunning with their displays and decorations! In terms of one in my area (and there are several), my favorite is the display in the small town of McAdenville, NC just outside of Charlotte. The whole town takes part. t's so, so beautiful and has been going on like this since the 1950's. Here's a video of it:

I would love to hear about the favorite Christmas and Holiday displays that you love that are in your area's or you've seen in your travels that you really loved!
One time I went to Ruidoso, New Mexico and I saw a snowman at a holiday light display that I really loved.
