I would rather have a snowstorm in our typical winter temperatures rather than have a deep freeze. When it comes to temperature, you cannot control that by shoveling it out. With snow, you can control the snow in your driveway by shoveling it! And the community can control the snow as long as they do a good job plowing the roads! In a deep freeze, I can dress warm, but I have to worry about things being damaged in the cold such as turning the lock on my house door or worrying about a car not functioning. My stomach also felt acidic this morning, because it was only 11 degrees. I'd rather have a snowstorm with typical winter temperatures (and no wind!) where I can control it by shoveling it. Snow causes power outages mainly when there is wind! Also snow allows me to do things like sledding it.
That's crazy your car wouldn't start?!! I wouldn't even know how to deal with that.

I love snowstorms. I love watching them from the inside and also walking around the city and taking photos of it on the city streets and parks.

Also I love going out going out during a snowstorm on a Friday/Saturday night. I can’t explain it, there’s just something so fun about partying in a snowstorm. Some of the best and most memorable nights out in my life were snowstorm parties.

Nothing fun about the freeze without snow though, like what happened yesterday.

I should add that I don’t drive and get around everywhere by foot and by subway. So the snow doesn’t give me any extra work or affect my ability to get around.

I'd rather a consistent 10s-30s temperature throughout winter with some big snowfalls. I'll take that over the see-saw weather going from 0 back into the 40s/50s with rain and back below freezing again.

We are pretty much frozen from mid October through the beginning of April whatever snow we get stays for the Winter

-10 to +10 is a good typical day, we get short stretches of -20, -30, -40 and occasionally warmer like today at 20 to 30

below -20 is considered cold here and you need to dress appropriately, especially hands feet and face... but.... getting outside at -40 and colder is kind of the Alaska badge of honor. At -40 I can throw my hot coffee in the air and it freezes, start driving and my tires are out of round and the ride is rough for a few minutes until they round back out.

Most vehicles are winterized with an engine block heater, battery heater and oil heater pigtailed together to a plug that hangs out of the grill. I'm spoiled and also have a heated garage.

Fairbanks, Alaska

Deep freezes help with the bugs, at least east of the Mississippi.

I hate snow and especially hate to drive in it. Seeing snow gives me a sense of dread. A deep freeze is much easier to deal with. Thankfully we are having a mild winter here in central Washington...it's cloudy and in the 30-40s most of the time. It tried to snow a couple of times but melted when it hit the ground.

I absolutely love it snowy and cloudy and luckily I live somewhere where I pretty much get plenty of snow and clouds all winter.

I don't mind bitter cold, either.

Living here, it's not like I expect it or want it to be warm in the winter.
