Looking for some advice on these states. About me: mid 20's male, got out of the military recently and need to use my GI bill. Looking for a college town near mountains, skiing, maybe some hunting. The city being walk-able is a big plus. I know this is pretty vague but interested in your opinions.

Don't know all these places, but.. Western Washington Uni. (Bellingham, WA) or Central Washington Uni (Ellensberg, WA)

Bellingham is closer to more metro area's and is much larger to start with. Good hiking/sking near by. Not sure 100% about hunting but am sure the inland area of whatcom county has options.

Ellensburg small town 'western'/county vibe. Mountains, skiing, hiking, hunting = all good. Yakima is 30 min away for many 'bigger' city needs. True 'metro' over mountain pass, so if access all year/anytime is needed that could be a concern.

It would be hard to go wrong with the University of Vermont. Burlington is a great small city with good walkability plus top skiing resorts like Stowe and Mad River just outside of town. If you want the classic big university experience the University of Utah fits the bill. It's about 30 minutes from the slopes at Park City and central Salt Lake City in/around campus is very walk-friendly.
