Cities with no trendy, hip, or "cool" suburbs/bordering cities. Cities without? (apartments, neighborhoods)

I mean, Fort Worth and Denton, which is viewed as a overgrown college town, has parts considered hip or trendy. Then there are other suburbs with parts with active nightlife or bars that people from Dallas or other suburbs go out to for a fun night.

I'd be inclined to just say Somerville. Maybe parts of Cambridge fit this, but overall no. Brookline is not hip or trendy at all.

Oakland is indeed trendy and cool right now. The fact that Chicago wasn't included can set off some posters here.

Chicago doesn't have an Oakland, but I guess, it's the usual suspect Chicago suburbs of Oak Park and Evanston. Nice architecture in Oak Park and there are places like Starbucks, Chipotle, and maybe a Barnes & Noble still in both places.

I don't personally find any of Cincinnati's suburbs to be cool. Covington and Newport have some nice urban areas, but I wouldn't say they're trendy or cool. They are nice though.
