Ah, the overly-precious bobo suburbs. The towns' strong identities also come from the fact that they get to define themselves against the city right next door. River Forest can compare itself to Oak Park, but the contrast isn't as sharp as OP vs. Chicago. They're also both faculty bedroom communities; Oak Park is a popular residence for UIC professors.
