What areas of the US would I be looking at?

So general. Hills, trees and streams? If all you’re looking for is a shady bower by a stream with a meadow, nearly anywhere in the US could work. Besides pancake flat states like Florida and super deserty states like AZ. But even in AZ you could find that in the mountains.

Do you plan to use the water from those streams for personal purposes? If so, this area must be east of the 100th meridian where riparian water law is used.

Like previous posters, I would say this isn't a lot to go on. Can you narrow your needs down a bit? To me you've narrowed it doen to every state with the possible exception of the desert areas of Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada.

Most of northern Nevada is grassy cold desert. Not sure if there's many hills though. More like just mountains as far as I can tell.
