Also, this is a pretty good reason there are so many guns in Chicago. Laws in Indiana are super loose, easy to buy there and bring them over.
It's also not a horrible area, compared to neighborhoods to the north especially. The East Side/Hegewisch is actually a very quiet community of mostly Polish and Hispanics. Albeit the schools there apparently aren't very good.
Guns can/would still get into Chicago, even if Chicago was 100 miles from another state with lax gun laws, so it really doesn't matter at the end of the day. Gun control doesn't work unless you expand those gun laws nationwide... which seeing how armed this country is overall, would never work. But, that's a whole nother topic for a whole nother thread...
Chicago kind of borders Michigan if you were to take a boat. But technically, I believe the portion of Lake Michigan abutting Chicago would be considered Illinois and not Chicago.
Orleans Parish doesn't even border MS. You'd have to go through St. Tammany Parish first.
If you navigate down the Pearl River, you'll enter the Gulf with Mississippi on your left and Orleans Parish in the right, before entering open gulf waters.
Many people don't know that Chicago borders Indiana or that Memphis borders both Arkansas and Mississippi. Many also don't know that Savannah borders South Carolina across the Savannah River. I honestly find it strange that Hardeeville, SC is NOT part of the Savannah metro area which is completely in Georgia. Savannah and Hilton Head SC do share an airport though.
I think it IS well known that NYC borders New Jersey and that Kansas City MO is on the border with Kansas.
I'm honestly not sure if Las Vegas city limits border Arizona, I just know Clark County does.
