Currently living in a Chicago suburb, my husband and I are researching where to relocate to that may be our FOREVER♡. We have 2 little boys and we would like to make this happen ideally before they begin school.

IDEALLY, we would like to live with a bit of land (any land more than our slab in the suburbs would probably make us ecstatic), mountain views or at least mountains not too far, forestry, a secluded home (pull up a bit in a driveway type vs the house next to house type) and an area where interior construction is a sought after trade. My husband runs his own interior remodeling business. It would also be great if there was a Polish population near as we are bilingual but doesn't have to be.

Does this dream area exist anywhere? Please help a mama out to look in the right direction !

All my best,
BoyMama K

Madison County, NC. Just outside of Asheville. Rural, very beautiful, nice climate without huge extremes, relatively affordable, and not far from all Asheville has to offer via I-26. Some areas around Knoxville TN, Chattanooga TN, and Roanoke VA would be worth a look too. Good luck in your search.

Based on what you've said I would recommend the Saratoga Springs/Glens Falls/Lake George area of Upstate NY, located right at the foot hills of the Adirondack mountains. There are a lot of older, beautiful homes and lots of money in the area. Which I would think to be ideal for an interior remodeling business. The schools in that area are top rated which I'm guessing would be important to you with 2 small boys? Plus it looks like the Northeast has the largest polish population, not sure about that area specifically though. Plus you're less than 4 hours from NYC if that interests you. Either way it truly is a beautiful area and the Adirondack Mountains are second to none, at least compared to anything East of the Rockies. I'd give it a hard look. Good luck!

I second the Asheville area which has the disposable income and demand for the type of work your husband does. The beauty is too that you don't have to get too far out of town to find your paradise as previously suggested. Towns north of Asheville off of I-26 offer close proximity to work and low density development with acreage plus decent enough proximity to everyday needs. Check out the Barnardsville area, Mars Hill and Burnsville which is seeing an increase in vacation home construction/remodeling again with the completion of the longtime I-26 widening project up through that area.
