Hartford needs n NHL team again. Seeing CTers split between Boston and NY is funny, yet sad.

What has always seemed stupid to me is giving desert/south cities NHL teams while leaving Cleveland, which seems like maybe the most obvious location for an NHL franchise in the country, without one.

Yep, and Quebec City should get a team too. Bring back the Whalers and Nordiques.

Cleveland had the Barons back in the 1970s but now that Columbus has the Blue Jackets Cleveland is out of luck getting another team.

Not if Columbus' team moves about 120 miles north to the larger media market.

Cleveland is too small of a city for all 4 teams.

Yeah maybe, but we are talking NHL, not NFL here. The simple question is, could Cleveland fill more NHL seats than Columbus? My bet says yes. The Cleveland Monsters (AHL) fill about 9000 seats per game, 3rd highest in the entire AHL. AHL 2019-20 team attendance at hockeydb.com

The Columbus Blue Jackets attendance is around 16k per game. Move that team to Cleveland and we can definitely do better than that. Particularly since we can pull in from Youngstown, Akron, Canton, Mansfield and even Columbus. Re-igniting a rivalry with Pittsburgh would help the numbers.

The NHL was hoping a Columbus team would pull more from Cleveland and Cinci. Didn't get as big of numbers as they had hoped. Ohio can do a lot better for the NHL.

Cleveland would either have the Cavs or the Hockey team but I doubt that they could support both teams with concurrent seasons. One would crowd out the other.
