Does anyone know what the largest rural or semi rural communities are in America? In terms of population and land area? By rural or semi rural I mean 1 acre or half acre homesite minimum for the most part. One example I can think of is Lehigh Acres east of Fort Myers which although it has quarter acre and half acre homesites there are a lot of 1 and 5 acre homesites and even a lot of tracts above ten acres. Tried looking it up and couldn’t really find anything. If anyone knows any large communities like that let me know, thanks.

I think that Anchorage is mostly rural/semi-rural. I know someone that grew up there and to walk down her driveway to her nearest neighbor and then to their door was a 10-15 minute walk and she lived within city limits and said that was normal.

One of my friends who lives in Visalia, CA (pop. >100k) has described it as "a small town with the population of a city".

There are some rural-feeling areas within Reno's city limits, like up in Golden Valley. You can't even see the rest of the city because of the mountains.
