How much weed do you smoke, exactly? Alcohol is only illegal to those under 21 years of age. And to answer your question, yes, Im "against alcohol being illegal" because I enjoy my occasional brew.

I probably shouldn't be giving this information on a public forum, but oh well I'm not ashamed of it; I smoke at least once a day, usually in the evening before bed on weekdays after I work out and eat dinner. I've always had problems sleeping and this helps me a lot, wayyyy better and less addictive than sleeping pills. On the weekends I smoke more. A bong hit to me is what a glass or two of wine or beer is to some people after work. Nearly all of my childhood friends smoke weed, many smoke just as much or more than me. All are college educated and have good jobs. Many of my friends parents I know smoke as well, as do mine, and all are college educated and successful.
I also should have phrased my question better, basically I was asking if you think alcohol SHOULD be illegal considering all of its ill effects.
Basically to me the only people that weed causes trouble to are people prone to trouble to begin with, weed is not causing their fundamental problems. If weed wasn't there, alcohol, prescriptions, ect... would be if they aren't already in addition to pot.

Interesting how hard it is to find someone that doesn't smoke pot that finds it OK.
It's always "I don't do that and its wrong too."

Many bright minds smoke pot and a lot of intelligent people that you may not realize are pot smokers, people tend to not advertise it b/c it's still taboo in our uptight society.
That's fine if you don't want to smoke it and your decision but don't go around making a whole bunch of assumptions and throwing out a bunch of BS stereotypes about something that you have little to no personal experience with.

You have to remember though, weed is illegal, so less people do it than drink. Now, if it was legal and more people did it, it might have more impact on society. Since the smoke from weed makes people stoned(effects their perception, motor skills, etc) it could never be legal in public, because the smoke drifts through the air, and people around can breath it in, effecting their ability to do normal tasks....so if it was legal, and if people started taking advantage of it, it could become a big problem, people doing it in public and effecting others, people smoking and driving more, causing more wrecks.....and, the latter even if it wasn't legal in public, because people can do it at home, assume they are ok to drive(known many people that think this way, and they are/were wrong lol) etc. Alcohol may be a problem....however, the people around you cannot get drunk from simply being around it....also, if both weed and alcohol were legal, then the amount of problems(people driving under the influence etc) would potentially be much higher, as there are more substances available. I'm not saying i hate people that smoke weed, I don't.....but i do hate the ones that do it in public, and i have to injest the smoke/odor(and yes, i've passed many people (downtown seattle for example) smoking in public, or who have just smoked and REEK of it).
And to adress the original question, California hands down is where i would (and am going to) live, but it has NOTHING to do with pot being legal/illegal. Its simply California is an excellent place.

Even given that fact I wouldn't be surprised and pretty much would expect abuse rates for marjiuana use to be lower than rates for alcohol and prescription drug use. I really don't have anything solid to back up that opinion with though, just observations. Weed is just so less harmful in so many ways compared to alcohol and other substances. I mean you see drunk people get in fights all the time or a drunk husband pissed off his team lost the game smacking around his wife, stoners don't do stuff like that stoned generally. I'd much rather have a lazy couch potato than some aggro meathead. A lot of people smoke or have smoked it and there is very little evidence or literature, unbiased that is, on the negative consequences on society b/c of weed. Many times it's much easier to get weed when you are under 21 than it is to get alcohol.
And if it was legal it basically should have the same restrictions smoking cigarettes in most places have, people in public shouldn't have to be exposed to the smoke. Smoke getting blown in your face is more a problem with the lack of common sense and courtesy than anything else.

Despite continued political debates regarding the legality of medicinal marijuana, clinical investigations of the therapeutic use of cannabinoids are now more prevalent than at any time in history.

I don't smoke pot, but I think it's fine. People have a right to make their own decisions. As long as they don't operate vehicles while intoxicated (or endanger others in any way) who cares if they get high? I think the real problem is our societal attitude of "I live my life a certain way, and you should too."
I say we let people make their own choices, their own mistakes, and have their own choices. I don't want to play moral cop.

I agree. Im not trying to tell anyone how to live their life, but I am against breaking the law. If MJ was legalized tomorrow, then so be it. I could care less. But until then, I dont condone using it. And just like drunk drivers, if I catch someone driving stoned, I WILL call the cops and you WILL go to jail, because Ill be damned if I let you put other peoples' lives at risk.

Steve-O, even though I think pot should be legal, I still strongly believe the same rules regarding DUI should be applied to both pot and alcohol. There's some "residue" issues" with pot I'm concerned about, but proving a driver is impaired should be a no-brainer for law enforcement.
