Nice! I think you're the first person whose neighborhood beat mine.

i was quite surprised, being that i need to walk at least 4 blocks for a cab sighting!

well i guess that enhances the walkability

91 out of 100 (I'm out at the end of a subway line in Brooklyn). Seems about right to me.

Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL:

89/100.

Yep. I walk to the movies, the grocery store, the lake, the park, the library, the shoe store, the bar....

I don't think you can define walkability only by distance to businesses. I was really impressed this site found my house as it is brand new and you can't find maps or directions to it. It calculates its walkability as 3/100. My previous apartment scores 66/100. Well, let me tell you... I'm much more likely to walk in my current neighborhood as it is prettier, has tennis and volleyball courts, a pool, it's full of pocket parks, barbeque areas, etc. than in my old neighborhood in the middle of various strip malls. I've done it a few times as I'm originally from Europe and miss that, but it was certainly not enjoyable.

My current apartment in Noble Square, Chicago: 91/100
My old apartment in Edgewater, Chicago: 95/100
My college apartment in the McGill Ghetto, Montreal: 65/100
My mother's house in Arlington, MA: 66/100
My father's house in Medford, MA: 62/100

There are certain flaws in their reasoning. For instance "groceries" were close in my neighborhood because theres a convenience store 3 doors down, but the real grocery store is .5 a mile away. And the only things that were "far away" were a movie theater and a gym, not really the most necessary things.
