Although I'm a Southerner, I must say the Midwest has the greatest cities because they are the best mix of urban and suburban.

Man if you are counting Hawaii and Alaska, the Pacific Coast hands down. You get an almost arctic city, a tropical paradise type city, Second biggest city in America, beautiful beach town like San Diego, Dense, European feeling San Francisco, Beautiful laid back Portland, Dense, BEAUTIFUL Seattle with its alpine looking scenery, cascades, olympics, mt rainier, puget sound, etc etc....and thats just the biggest ones! You can have it all on the Pacific coast

The Pacific Coast Cities collectively are the best imo.

Pacific Coast. Seattle, San Francisco, and San Diego are three of the nicest cities in the country. Portland is nice as well.

Pacific Coast. There's something for everyone.

Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco offer that eclectic, dense, urban feel.

Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Hawaii cities offer a laid-back vibe, beaches, and lots of sunshine.

Then, there are always places like Lake Tahoe, Anchorage, and small town Oregon for the nature buff.

As for second place: it's a tough choice. I was originally going to say New England, because of the quaint historical aspects of cities like Boston.

But, after thinking some more, I'm actually going to say that the South should get 2nd place, just for the sheer number of choices. You have Atlanta, Raleigh, Nashville, Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, New Orleans, Knoxville, Louisville, Richmond, Charleston, Savannah, etc....So many cities to choose from!
