I have lived in Northern VA most of my life (born in NE) and when I talk to people and tell them where I live they say Oh, your southern. Well I am not. Northern VA has all the Southern Charms of Newark NJ. It use to be southern and quite traditional but it sure is yankee now. In my retirement, I would like to move to a medium or large southern city that is still traditional, southern, friendly and old fashioned. Does such a place exist?

Augusta, GA. I visited last year, and it seemed really old and unchanged for sure. It's a very interesting city, that is kinda run down, but worth checking out.

Jackson, MS. The only thing changing about that place is all the business closing and moving out to the suburbs each year. I lived there for 9 years, and got out when I could. I said the only way I'd return is either in a pine box or an urn. Or if I found out the world was ending, because they are 10-20 years behind many places.
