This is not just based on the quality of the teams, but on the quality of the staduims, the atmosphere in the stands, and the devotion of the fans.

L.A. can be either. They seem to support baseball fine, but they've lost 3 NFL teams.

Philadelphia is the worst sports city in America. While they have the most loyal, dedicated fans, it seems like there is a black cloud over the city when it comes to winning championships!

The Bay Area DOES NOT have the best sports fans, that is a joke and I'm not sure where you got that they are one of the best. Most people forgot the Warriors even existed until last playoff season, the biggest ban wagon fans ever. Never have I actually met a true Sharks fan and I grew up in the Bay Area. The A's have always had some of the lowest attendance in the Major Leagues for a while now. Raider games used to be blacked out left and right b/c they couldn't sell out the stadium. The Niners are trying to go to Santa Clara. Both the Giants and A's have threated to move and the A's are actually moving. The Giant's almost went to Florida years ago.

Pittsburgh ranked among the best? Have you seen the pitiful support the Pirates get? And how lousy the Penguins' support was until they started winning and then the bandwagon started? The only team that gets any support in Pittsburgh is the "Stillers."

Atlanta is also a lousy sports town....the fans down there don't even support the Braves when they're good....they don't even sell out playoff games.

Los Angeles lost 2 NFL teams right around the same time, even though its the country's second or third biggest market. Great sports town.

I'm not sure I agree with Minneapolis being ranked so low....the Vikings and Twins get a lot of fan support even in down years.

Phoenix is a bad sports town......the D-Backs didn't even sell out their playoff games last year. Too many transients from other cities that don't care about the Arizona teams....that's also Miami's problem.

The best in my opinion are Philly, New York, and Boston.

That doesn't make it the worst sports city. The passion and interest of the fans is what makes a good sports town, not winning. The fact that Philly teams get such good support despite not winning championships is what makes Philly one of the best in my opinion.

Bad sports towns are places like Arizona and Atlanta, where they can't even sell out during the playoffs. Or Pittsburgh, where they can't afford good players because the fans don't support the team, despite one of the best ballparks in baseball.

Also people say NYC and Boston have the best fans, well that can also translate in the WORST sports fans. Recently some Yankees fan just ran over and killed a Red Sox fan up in New Hampshire. Here in SAN DIEGO, a $25,000 lawsuit was just settled btwn a Red Sox and Yankees fans bar fight. For how passionate they are about their teams, some of their stupidity many times just ruins it.
