I voted for B-- San Francisco is a world class tourist destination if you're into that kind of thing, but it's not really the economic powerhouse they make it out to be. Even within the Bay Area San Jose and Silicon Valley have a far larger population and economy. There are other cities I would much rather spend my time in.
I was there this week, it was maybe my third or fourth time. I love any city with transit, and the combo of bus, trolley and BART put it up there in the top five US cities. But the downtown was dirty, more homeless, too many drunks, and all the white flight just makes it like everywhere else. Food partly good and partly overrated, whether in the burbs or in the city. Economic powerhouse? That is not what the place is about, and frankly, I could care less about that anymore since it's been overrated in this country since the 80s.
San Francisco is "the city" historically for California during the time it became part of the US/Gold Rush. San Francisco is as exciting today as the Barbary coast days. No city quite like San Francisco [part of the triangle of New York & New Orleans] in the US. There's not much to dislike about San Francisco [ and to even compare it with San Jose is beyond reality

Yeah, mainly because one exists in reality and one doesn't. If that's what you like, then great. I wouldn't vote for any of those choices, though. SF is really great if that's what you're going for, but its appeal is seemingly limited to select subcultures.
San Fran is ok I guess, it has beautiful scenery, but the political climate sucks. There is a pretty good selection of things to do, but no more than about 15 other cities in the US. I can honestly say I could visit the city again and enjoy it to an extent, but would never want to live there. Culturally it has good amenities, but nowhere near NYC or Chicago.
