Current favorite: Vermont. All-time favorite: New York from the 1990s. Least favorite: Michigan.

Also I think Washington DC's is hilarious and very clever. And is it just me or does Alaska seem to change it every year?

Kind of odd to put that on a license plate. It would be a nice plate if it didn't say that.

Illinois' plates represents us alot, as someone else already stated. Being able to say that you were home to Abraham Lincoln is pretty cool, since he was one of the most important and well known presidents.
Lincoln helped grow the size of the federal government, granting powers via oversight to the federal government that it did not have. Prior to this time, the size of the state hadn't grown very much, as it was constitutionally checked where it was supposed to be.

Lincoln was a rotten president.

I was in Utah not long ago and those plates were just awful on some of the cars depending on their color/design. I remember sitting in traffic thinking how ugly they look...

Someone mentioned the North Carolina plates looking better in person. I agree, they're a nice looking plate.

I guess I like the more understated/neutral types of plates. Maine, Maryland and Tennessee etc. Obviously, we're all different in our preferences.
I don't like the switch from blue to red.
