^Maybe even joined with DC?

Anyway, I think that for now at least, Puerto Rico is going to remain as is. The amount of work it would take to make it a state is actually quite a bit....there's just too much else going on to worry about it. Same with Guam, etc.

About Illinois I've heard alot about that as well. It seems as though folks from Northern Illinois never talk about southern Illinois. I think Northern Illinois has more of a cosmopolitain/big city urban sprawl feel with Chicago and Rockford.... Then you get to southern Illinois which is Effingham and Metropolis and it's more of a rural south feeling down there. I think if they split Illinois in two the southern region should be named Shawnee or something regarding there National Forest and Rend Lake.

Ya I agree with you, Northern & Southern Illinois just don't sound good.
But What About Central Illinois?

Central Illinois is a toss up. Where could Springfield go? Ehh give to Southern Illinois. I think that southern Illinois would respect Springfield more anyways. lol

Ha Ha, it is funny though, due to Illinois odd shape. A split off of any kind would just look weird.

There are many small countries throughout the world that have their currency pegged to another country. No offense, but the logic you are using is completely moronic.

Some groups want a separatist state. Give them what they want. A separate state for whites only, another for blacks only, etc...
