If you do not want any snow then it is better to look south though snow was experienced even in Houston & just outside New Orleans this winter [that is very rare btw]. Rural areas in southern Texas & the Gulf States should be fine. Also anywhere in rural Florida\ Arizona\ California would be ok.

I vote for NC. Plenty of nice rural areas easy drive to Raleigh. Mild weather year round, summers are hot and humid but only really bad July and August. Some snow Dec to Feb, but hardly enough to be concerned about. It melts away in a few days. Raleigh area is also home to three major Universities and the Research Triangle Park. Employment is scarce like much of the rest of thr country, but in my opinion the opportunity for growth is good here. And housing is very affordable. We moved here from CA last year and love it. Friendly people, good schools, plenty of cultural activities, 2 hours to the beaches and 3 hours to the mountains. Only downside is it seems that we do a lot more driving here, it is very spread out.

We were notherners looking the same thing so we packed up and moved to Charleston SC. Wrong move! Culture is horrible here. Their fine dining is barely palatable. No culture other than black/african. Reverse racism so prevalent tourists pick up on it. We actually live 5 miles from Charleston in Mount Pleasant. Beautiful area but medium house is $300k, rediculous. Nothing to do for entertainment, thus everyone drinks so lots of bars. Crime out of control. We will be moving on when our high schooler graduates 2016.

Congratulations, looks like you uprooted your family (including high school-aged kids) and moved to a place that it sounds like you didn't research at all. Are you surprised that the majority "culture" (meaning non-white it sounds like) is "black/African" when you moved to the South? Please return to your region, and I say that as someone who has never stepped foot in Charleston.

Florida.

Specifically:
Gainesville
Boca Raton
Tampa
Tallhassee
Florida panhandle
Melbourne

But no seriously look into Florida. There's plenty of places you may like.

Places are Arizona will work too. I'm not that familiar with Arizona. Maybe Tuscon. Look into places in Cali too, places around San Diego would be nice.
