I have lived or traveled through a few states. However, not enough to give a thorough opinion. My favorite place to live is:
Missouri. Has everything except the 2 oceans. But does have Lakes, hills, such a variety of wildlife, fauna, etc.
Tennessee tied w/Kentucky
California....which I loved, but my DH did not care for at all.
Georgia tied w/Alabama
I didn't vote, because I haven't visited every state. How can I have an opinion if I haven't done my research properly? I do feel that California has an edge on things like natural scenery (although Alaska probably takes the prize for that!), diverse areas (deserts, forests, fertile valleys, etc.), and great weather along the coast. I love my home state for many reasons... but I'm still not going to vote until I spend some time in the other 49!
I was thinking the same exact thing. With a population approaching 40,000,000, it's no surprise whatsoever that CA likely has a hefty number of posters on this forum, hence its commanding lead.
Actually, the CA cities usually don't win in other polls.

Born and raised in No. California, lived in Missouri (twice), and Nevada. I have spent lots of time (months) in Vermont, New Hampshire, Virginia, Arkansas, So. Texas, Oregon, Washington, and New Mexico.
While I love parts of No. California, and I love Santa Fe New Mexico, I have to vote for Missouri....especially SW MO...lakes, rivers, fishing, ball games, low cost of living, low crime, friendly folks, (and lots of ex-cali's)...
That is a tough one ... as WILWRADIO said it should be "favorite state" since as those Texans will sure say everything is bigger in Texas and Californians think they are a seperate country of Hollywood Republic. My favorite state is Colorado my home state, we got a lot to see as in the Rockies and a convenient city right near by of Denver with all the major sports team. I also love Tennessee, the Jazz/Blues of the Memphis, Country of Nashville and Bluegrass in Knoxville, a lot of culture not to forget great Southern folks and the scenary of that of the Smokey mountains. However my LEAST favorite state is perhaps that I might recommend as the "best" state per say in economic factors, 40 million people and growing can't be wrong, that of California.
