Doesn't matter if you've lived in two states or thirty states.

Those who have lived outside the U.S. are welcome to chime in with answers of other nations.

Wasn't happy in California, too expensive, too many unhappy campers, too many illegals. Happy in my homestate of Colorado and happy in my vacation state of Tennessee, both good folks, happy campers and where the middle class actually exist.

Well, you know what they say........"If you're happy with yourself, any place is home." I'm happy with myself, but I still fuss and moan about where I live though.

I have had the pleasure of living in Colorado, Washington, & Nebraska. Each state had its pros and cons. I could find myself living happily in either of these states. City choice would be crucial of course.

I will also add I have visited 49 of our 50 states, have found most all folks to be gracious of a non stater and helpful.

I've lived in northern New Mexico and East Tennessee, and I wouldn't characterize either place as all "happy" or "unhappy." I was very content living in New Mexico, and Tennessee has been great so far - but that's just my personal experience.

I have lived in several states as well as foreign countries. I found I am happiest where I am from Massachusetts. However due to the cost of living there and the cold I cannot retire in the New England area. I am researching areas closer to NE to retire to. I retired from the Federal Gov't so I got around in my life since I was 18, and for various reasons where I live now Oregon is the most unappealing, especially Portland. I will leave here in summer 09.
