Since this is an issue that some members have strong opinions about, here's a reminder from the TOS for the thread:

Quote:
Be civil, no personal attacks, flaming, or insults. We may attack ideas (politely) but we do not attack the speaker of the idea. Be careful with your words, there is a point where being direct crosses a line into blunt, in-your-face hostility. Please, report bad posts instead of engaging in flame wars on the boards. Insulting another member or a moderator will not be tolerated anywhere on this website. This includes Direct Messages and Reputation Comments.

Well for a week or two after a tragic accident I do not mind anything. It is a horrible thing. Here in Florida I think the DOT puts up permenant signs, they are just small white circle signs maybe 3 feet high which say drive safely. I see more and more pop up everyday. Some are on the highways others just a side of an intersection. Whenever I see one I think how did someone crash there. Or wow yea this is a bad curve or busy highway that must have been a bad accident, or did the person have their seatbelt on etc.. Sometimes there will be more then one in the same spot.

I think its a great idea what the Florida DOT does. It remids drivers to drive safely, slow down, buckle up, stop on red, use your turn signal. Driving for most people is the most dangerous thing they will do in their lives but it is such a daily task no one thinks of it that way. Oh its just a drive across the street who cares about my seatbelt. Roadside memorials remind people driving can be deadly and is deadly, over 30,000 people a year die in auto accidents in the US.
