There have been several inane topics in this forum as of late that go along the lines of 'flag humping', hence my response.

Muhnay, I wish my tax rate were 2%!!! After homestead exemption (20% of value), my taxes have been 2.9% for the past 2 years. I don't know of anyone whose is lower than 2.75%. Before we moved in, the rate was as high as 3.35%. This is on the fringe of the City of Houston. Other suburban areas even farther out (such as unincorporated Katy area) have rates of 3.7%.

BTW where did you get that cap? I've been looking for something like that so I can represent while I be travelin'.

So, whoever was DUMB enough to ask such a stupid question should be kicked in his a** all the way from Port Arthur to Childress. Quit wasting our time reading this nonsense. Ask you mother if she has something you can do. Get a life. Grow up. Get a job. Go jump off a cliff. Just get out of our lives and be done with. You're not only useless, you're an insult to the human race. Obviously, you're not even of that race.

So, go be some place else forever.
I don't think any of us believe that Texas is best in all things. However, it is the easiest, most comfortable, and most pleasant state that I have ever lived in. Everything works together to make the experience of the Texan positive, in most aspects. True, I have not lived in every state--only 6 of them.

Texas, WAS, by far, the greatest state ever in the history af America. Texas is now just a giant suburb of Mexico. The Mexican gov't even has OUR politicians, like Perry under their control. It pains me to know my children will never experience the real Texas (and America) that I grew up in. It's heartbreakingly sad.

Are you guys sure this poll wouldn't give a more accurate picture if it was moved to the "General" forum?

When I first saw this last night, I'd have bet a pop that it would be overwhelmingly a "YES". I was quite surprised to see that it's not the landslide I expected.

It's nice to see people proud of their state~to SOME extent. The people that I've personally met from there have been very nice and I like your accent.

Moderator cut: Just wanted to add that we need to treat each other respectfully and can get our point across without insults.

I was going to suggest that but coming from me won't get the positive response that it will from you, Jammie.

Most people that live here will tell you "HELL YEA". In my humble opinion I have to agree. We have over 23 million residents, 3 of the top 10 largest cities in the USA, affordable housing, diverse industries, decent weather, wide open terrain and one of the worlds' (yes world) strongest economy.

I’ll admit there are states that may have more scenic locations, and possibly slightly better weather (and earthquakes, and wild fires, and rolling blackouts, and $5 gas), but for some reason, people keep moving to Texas.

Oh, and I almost forgot….we have the Dallas Cowboys. [/font]
