There are a few exceptions here in Washington...billboards on Indian reservations are allowed and billboards are allowed on land zoned as industrial. Other than that there are very few billboards here.

Instead of billboards you will see these signs:

Louisiana has alot of billboards, but I never really considered them to be eyesoars. Most of the time I don't even notice them.

Interesting, I've always considered them to be eyesores. I once heard somebody refer to billboards as "legal litter" and tend to agree...

Billboards are illegal here in VT. No off-site advertising via signage is allowed anywhere in the state.

i agree I'm from the Seattle area and there's less billboards around here along the highways than other parts of the US.
Some parts of New England & Hawaii you hardly see any at all.

All billboards are illegal in the entire state of Hawaii. There is an outdoor conservation group that monitors this and even Coke/Pepsi vending machines are considered billboards here. A painting of a wave on the side of a nightclub named "the Wave" was considered a billboard.

So, coming from Hawaii to the mainland is a little shocking when it comes to billboards.
