It would be a good idea in theory to shift to the metric system in the U.S., so that we'd be in step with the rest of the world and it would be a lot easier to convert amounts when traveling.
But of course we're all too "used" to our current system of sizes and measurements. I think we should aim to make all measurements consistent, like why 2-liter bottles of soda but milk by the gallon? Then, start making gradual changes like displaying distances in km right next to the miles distance on signs (might be considered a waste of money, though, to change all our road signs), or shifting from Fahrenheit to Celsius (probably easier since temperatures are basically only shown on TV, newspapers, the internet, and bank displays).

I wouldn't want to change distance or degrees. Because 1' is less than 1m and 1 degree Fahrenheit is less than 1 degree Celsius you can get a better understanding of distance/height or temperature.

If Gas was measured in liter, it would be better. Because it makes more sence and the gas looks cheaper priced. For example, 1 liter for $1.

Maybe this will explain where he's coming from. He comes from an extremely Socialist country where indoctrination into the State run mindset is forced at an early age from infancy. In Sweden where he is from and I now live, when you go Grocery shopping as an example, Milk is sold in a Liter carton and costs about $2. So if a little under 4 Liters make a gallon, then we're talking close to $8 for a Gallon of Milk.
My biggest complaint to my wife was the fact that you can't seem to items in large sizes. You have to keep going back and buying more and more on a regular basis for the same Bulk quantiy like in the USA. What could the motivation be for this ? Because in this big over taxed Socialist system, the Swedish government charges 25% sales tax on everything including groceries and hence more purchasing brings in more tax £££$$$ to BIG BRO!!
