I'd say SoCal. The weather is milder, the scenery is great, the standards of living are a bit higher, and the university system is better (important to me, since I'm a grad student).

Florida has warmer beaches though, which is a plus for them.

"Better" is so subjective. I have lived in both and would avoid them both like the plague now. If you like flat, go Florida. At least California has some geographic relief (when you can see the hills through the smog). And I frankly think the Pacific Ocean is prettier than the Atlantic. Vacationing? I think there's more to do and see in SoCal. My argument with SoFla was that it was a whole day's drive from the next adjacent state. Plus it was waaaaayyyy more humid than SoCal. Highways are more forgiving in FL.

I've lived in both, and I much prefer Southern California for a plethora of reasons--many that have already been covered.

If you are talking Southern Florida as in Miami, CA wins all day. But if you want to talk the real southern part of Florida: the keys? FLA > CA

SoCa is so much better than SoFL.

Southern California has better landscape, weather, and opportunities.

Naples is like being in a hot tub without the waves.

Both are very beautiful places.

I hate when people say SoFla is ugly though, flat doesn't automatically equal ugly.

South Florida has better weather IMO.

Southern California has mountains.

South Florida has better beaches and water.

Both have Palm Trees (I'm a sucker for Palms lol).
