Not world class? You must be joking. I am talking about Omaha, Nebraska not Omaha, Texas.
Excuse me..
Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom?
FIVE Fortune 500 companies?
Home to the 2008 U.S. OLYMPIC swim trials
Home to the COLLEGE WORLD SERIES
A scant 50 miles from UNL, home to the greatest college football team ever
An awesome zoo?
Home to the richest man in the universe?
Home to several famous black people?
The birthplace of PRESIDENT Gerald Ford?
Access to an interstate that spans the width of the country (I-80)
The tallest building between Denver and Minneapolis (nothing in Texas counts because it is too far south)?
More insurance businesses than you can shake a stick at?
3 major malls (five if you count our two outdoor ones)?
Home to a major Midwestern airport with TWO terminals?
Streets that number past 204th (we are THAT big and awesome)
I could go on and on.
If you were driving down I-80 in eastern Nebraska (as everyone reading this has no doubt done at least a few times) and were low on gas, you'd think Omaha is important enough.
All these Omaha haters really need to stop. Your envy of our town is obvious.
I'm not from the area but I have to give you a New England Clevaahhhh. Your post was funny.
It's not that Omaha is THAT bad. Omaha is a great place I'm sure. But even considering ranking Omaha as one of the Top 10 World Class cities is just not practical. Omaha is a nice place, but there is no way it could possibly compete with cities like New York, Chicago, L.A., London, Paris, Moscow, Tokyo, Toronto, and Hong Kong
My Microsoft Streets and Trips program indicates that a town of Omaha exists not only in Nebraska, but, as you pointed out, also in:
Arkansas
Georgia
Illinois
Texas, and
New Zealand
But wait -- there’s more. There’s also town of Omaha in:
Kentucky
Virginia
Missouri
and even Japan (but it’s a safe bet they pronounce it o-HAMA)
With all these towns named Omaha, how do I know which city is the real thing and which ones are just poseurs -- imposters, if you will?
Help me to not be lead astray.
Signed, your friend in Pittsburgh, Pa.
(That would be the REAL Pittsburgh, -- not Pittsburgh, Nevada, or Pittsburgh, North Dakota, and DEFINITELY NOT Pittsburg, Kansas; Pittsburg, California; Pittsburg, Florida; Pittsburg, Illinois (Two in Illinois!!!); Pittsburg, Indiana; Pittsburg, Iowa; Pittsburg, Kentucky; Pittsburg, Michigan; Pittsburg, Missouri; Pittsburg, New Hampshire; Pittsburg, Oklahoma; Pittsburg, Oregon; Pittsburg, South Carolina; Pittsburg, Texas; Pittsburg, Ohio; Pittsburg, Colorado; Pittsburg, North Carolina; or Pittsburg, Utah.
Yes, these are all real towns.
PS: Looftie, you have a delicious sense of humor -- are you single? I love me those Midwestern men....mmm, mmm
And actually, Looftie, you've practically convinced me to move to Omaha, Nebraska...just so I can tell people I live in 'the Big O'. (Of course, I may say it as 'the Big Ooohhhhhhhhhh....".
Heh, heh.
(I'm so naughty.)
