So it's always a laughable conversation when I meet new people here in town and the question arises of where we're all from originally. 99% of the time, people state they're not from here in Central Florida originally, let alone Orlando. As most know, transplants are HUGE here. Well I'm part of that 1% that is from here...born and raised. It's funny to most because it's like I'm a rare breed.
So my question to those in City-Data Forum land is, if you were originally from (not moved here and then left again) the Central FL area and have moved, where did you end up moving?! Even though I know the tough economic times have deterred relocating of any kind recently, the small percentage of native Central Floridians has been this way for a while. Just curious, that's all.
I don't know if this fits, but many from Central Florida(Sanford, De Land, Ocala, etc..) came to Central NY a while back and some go back and forth. Many rural and small towns between Syracuse and Rochester get quite a few Black folks that are originally from Central Florida. They came to work in the vineyards and apple orchards there. Specifically communities like Sodus, Lyons, Clyde, Newark, Williamson and Geneva, among others, are places where they settled. Many moved to Syracuse or Rochester too.
