I don't think much will change either. I will be 51 in 2040, Yikes! I think for the most part you will see gas mileage go up and more people moving back to the rustbelt.
If we're not careful, we'll be a country where the rule of law has completely broken down. Doing something illegal will no longer be wrong, as long as your intent was to feed your family, and nothing you do will ever be your fault given you had good intentions. No one will need to take any responsibility for making bad decisions and the government will be there to make everything better.
The US will be a country where a small percentage of wage earners pays an ever growing tax burden to to support growing "entitlements" and to keep up with the retiring baby boomers. Social security will be flat broke, since the politicians will have pushed off a solution until it's too late.
