I live down is southwest Florida and I think the accent here is Chicago/Detriot/Midwestern! It feels like Michigan South down here. No kidding...I think its due to the fact that so many midwesterners live here. I am from upstate NY and it sounds similiar, but I can tell a Chicago/Detriot accent. I don't know what a real Florida accent is because I've never met anyone from here, as far as I know.

I've lived in CT for nearly my whole life.

Trust me when I say it is most definitely a CT thing. Even the classy folks use the 'f' word way too often. It's mostly just accepted here, I'm not sure why. Any of you know how "Celia" from Weeds talks? Yep- that's CT vocabulary (minus the sexual innuendos).

And yes, I say it WAY too much as well

LOL! It's funny, a friend of mine who's a native South Floridian told me that wherever I-95 goes in Florida, you'll find Northeasterners and wherever I-75 goes in Florida, you'll find Midwesterners. It's amazing how simple the migratory paths of Snowbirds are!

A true native New Orleans accent blows me away...
and the way they talk...reading the newspaper from down there...how often in 2007 do you hear or read the phrase 'well heeled"?

Love it

My favorite gotta be the NY accent. The most notable accents are the ones from The Bronx and Brooklyn.

Merryl Streep did a decent impersonation pf a Bronx accent starting at 8:20 to about 8:22

YouTube - Meryl Streep on Ellen.=

Bugs Bunny was said to have an accent of Bronx/Brooklyn origins

YouTube - Bugs Bunny - Case Of The Missing Hare

The Gotti's have the prototypical NY accent

YouTube - Growing Up Gotti - Season 3, ep.9 - Part 1of2=

Nowadays the most common NY accent you hear, especially in the ghetto areas of the South Bronx, Brooklyn etc etc are the ebonics/hood talk

Fat Joe comes to mind

YouTube - Fat Joe on Radio 1 with Westwood

J lo too

YouTube - Jennifer lopez Good Morning Bronx

Finally, Have you ever wanted a NY accent? Well here's a three part series that will help you on your way

Part 1-

Part 2-

part 3-
