Default City Counterparts

Every city in this country has another city it can relate to, an "evil twin", if you want to call it. That shows most with Texas and California cities more than anyother.

Like I mentioned before in another post, Cali and Texas are the two biggest rivals in America (arguable, yes?). And every major city in both states relate to eachother in some way. Check it out......

Houston and L.A.
Both: are the largest cities in their respected states, known for a HUGE hispanic population, are notorious for traffic and smog problems, next to a large body of water, has and had a big hip hop scene, has two division I-A schools and the best NBA teams in their respected states.

San Diego and San Antonio
Both: begin with "San", have Sea Worlds, are the "get away" cities for their respected states, in the southern part of the state, and also have a major Hispanic influence.

Dallas and San Francisco
Both: have a major rivalry with the largest cities in their respected states, have 5 time Super Bowl championship teams, had famous tv shows filmed there, in a mega metro area, and have world famous skylines.

San Jose and Austin
Both: are known for technology, very fast growing, and in between hills

Fort Worth and Oakland
Both: have underdeveloped skylines, are overshadowed by their larger... more popular neighboring cities, and are in a mega metro area.

See.

Now what are your cities couter parts?

wow, you were pretty accurate with your descriptions, although i would disagree with a few minor details. Dallas isn't known for it's skyline. and i would probably say austin is more like san francisco due to how liberal each city is. other than that i would agree with most of what you say.

You forgot another CA major city, Sacramento.

I would relate it with San Antonio...Both cities have rivers running through their downtowns. Both have one professional sports team, the Spurs and the Kings.

San Antonio major attractions include the the Alamo, River Walk, Tower of Americas. Sacramento major attractions include Old Sac, State Capitol, Midtown.

And finally, both cities get look down from other more important cities, Houston and Dallas, and San Francisco and LA.

Thanks. But.....

Really, you can't say Dallas isn't known for its skyline...... Other than the Cowboys and the tv show, that's what Dallas is mainly known for.

And the comparisons between Austin, San Jose, Oakland, Fort Worth, and Sacramento were kind of a toss up for me.

The Spurs are the best NBA team in Texas, not the Rockets,(it should be the Mavs though) but regardless you seem thorough with your points.

I'l try this:
Charlotte and Raleigh- both are growing at a fast pace....i guess thats it.

please no one compare Charlotte to Atlanta, there's not much to compare between the two.

it's a nice skyline but it doesn't really stand out compared to other texas cities. it lacks the height and size of downtown houston and downtown austin is beautiful due to it's location next to the lake.

I'd say in terms of tourism and young people gone wild, LA, Las Vegas, and Miami could compare to each other
