I just googled my CD Handle and there I am. Did you know CD did that? Is that cool or creepy?

Creepy - I don´t want to give information about myself to strangers...
But isn´t there an alert available?

I don't know how I feel about it... what I thought was creepier was when you could google your phone number and get an address....

I knew about it, and I don't really care. This is just a messageboard after all. IF you don't want people to find you on a messageboard, maybe you should consider not posting on it.

I don't care either. If someone wants to find me, there are other ways to do so.

City-data has nothing to do with it...Google probably indexes every page of every thread, and so if have 500 posts, thats 500 exact matches on one site, which will make it the #1 result almost every time. It's no different from any other message board or social networking site. Also, I find it funny that people get freaked out about having their house visible on google maps, despite the fact tat people have had their names and addresses listed in telephone books for decades.

Really I don't care, but google map just got streetview for my area and I was shocked I could find my house.

Having had an internet stalker before (back in the Usenet days, when it was harder than it is now), I don't use my real names on line.

At first I thought the thread was going to be about googling your real name and getting results. My real name pops up long before any of my nicknames make it through the noise. You just have to live with it.
