Here is another thing I really liked about Phillys City Hall ....... the interior courtyard .... usually some noise going on in there, but you still get quite a contrast from this
Philadelphia because it's the worlds tallest masonary structure and the biggest municipal building in the US.

A lot of people are unaware that Philadelphia's City Hall took over 30 years to build - the cornerstone was laid by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1870 and it was not completed until 1901.
Philadelphia's City Hall, with over 700 rooms is the largest city hall in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest in the world. It is the tallest all masonry building in the world. From 1901 through 1908 it was the tallest habitable building in the world.
I did not know Baltimore has such a nice City Hall!
Actually looks like something you might see in France or Belgium, especially if you removed the round central tower and added a couple of floors to the main part of the building. Very classic European palace looking building.
I agree its very prominent in the city skyline and it is very historic. The cornerstone was laid in 1867 and was completed 1875.
