Notice I said "accents" - because theres not just one but Lord knows how many..

I mean, really. They arent THAT bad. Compare them to NY, NJ, or a nasal Chicago twang (aka Shrilary Clinton) then they sound almost musical!

Whats wrong with haveing a very soft Southern drawl? It can actually soften the harshest of English words

I heard a story once- Im not sure where from. This man HATED Southerners and Southern accents. He was having chest pains and called 911, when a woman with a very calming Southern voice answered the phone. She talked him through things and he got the hospital. He later said the sweet sound of her Southern voice kept him calm and collected- he TOTALLY changed his mind about the Southern accents.

I dislike it on women, I think it sounds unattractive. On guys it makes me laugh, dont know why. Not that its funny, but when I hear southern guys talk, I cant help but picture Larry The Cable Guy or Jeff Foxworthy. Strange, eh?

But thats blue collar Southern. There are class variations, ya know

I think it sounds better on women- but Im a man, so Im charmed by it. My mother had real Richmond, Virginia accent. She was called a bigot in New York city. Ignorance up there I gues.

I know, I lived in TN.

Im sorry, but I just dont find the southern accent attractive on women, no matter if theyre from backwoods Alabama or "my-crap-dont-stink" Savannah, I just dont like it. My opinion.

Give me an English accent on a woman anyday!

Now English accents make me cringe! Especially on a woman. A woman with a Southern accent sounds warm and friendly, yet refined. A English accent is a cold fish lady. Couldnt stand it! No Sir.

You've got to be kidding. I don't know anyone that hates southern accents. Why do we keep seeing people post stupid questions like this?

The accents I really don't care for are Minnesotans. It's a unique sound from the Finnish influence, and it is not charming to me at all. However, I've only heard it on a few people; perhaps if I was there among the mass I would like how it sounds on others.

I used to hate southern accents but don't anymore. But I also used to hate country music, too, and while it still isn't doesn't make my list of favorites, I enjoy some of it now.

I've been in all parts of the nation, and actually enjoy the accents in the southern states, primarily Texas...in regards to twangs like you hear on country music, no thanks....
