Because I do not know the area extremely well I voted for Milwaukee for its nice location on Lake Michigan and near Chicago. Also, Milwaukee (and Madison) are in Wisconsin which reminds me of upstate in some parts, which is nice. Still I would do some more research before choosing if I was going to move to one of these cities on a permanent basis.
I understand that Minneapolis is a nice city and is very clean. Also northern Minnesota has lakes and forests alot like Maine.
