According to US News and World Report, of the nations's 200 largest metros, the top place where new jobs are created and sustained is 2007's Number 8 Metro and 2008's Number 1 Metro....


The place that made the biggest leap into the Top 10 from last year is Tacoma, Washington that went from Number 50 in 2007 to Number 8 in 2008.

As rather divergent pay indicates, all jobs aren't created equal...

Some industries like finance and tech are far higher paying than others and tend to cluster in a few major urban regions like NYC and SiliconValley

Some regions like LasVegas and much of FL have, in good times, lots of low-wage tourism, retail, service jobs
