As I have shown you before the geographic center of the contiguous United States is NOT the Missouri Compromise line, which is even less justifiable than the Mason-Dixon line, it is 39.5 latitude.

So this means the South would start from Atlantic City, NJ on the East Coast and end at Fort Bragg, CA on the West Coast. Anything south of 39.5 latitude is the South.

No, that's your interpretation. The north-south center of the contiguous United States is 39.5. That is the fact separating the north and southern halves. What constitutes the "South" as a cultural region combining history, religion, politics, etc. is something entirely different and something you don't seem to be able to comprehend.
I think I had said earlier that NC was not exactly the south, or the most northern of the southern states. But I've asked a couple of people from Denver if they'd ever move there, as their company is located there they bluntly replied "nope, that's still the south." Also, a pretty conservative friend of mine said that while Raleigh was ok, the area gets southern quickly outside of the cities.
I see this on here quite and bit and it can be a bit subjective. But in my research over the years of Geography/Demographics, my travels, and living in the South, I look at geographical location, culture (close families, traditions, manners, food, etc.), accent. Of the states that have the best combination of all of that, the Southern states (for me) would be: NC, SC, VA, WV, TN, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, AR, TX, and KY. There are varying degrees of these attributes from state to state, but all of them have enough of their "Southerness" to separate them from the other states than may be more marginal (like OK, MO, and MD). Again, not the gospel truth, just my take.
