What is the Misunderstood US City? That people just have no idea what its really like and stereotype it so much that how they view the city is just completely out of context with what the city really looks Like? Or make generalizations of a certain city based on a neighborhood or a few parts of the city?

Omaha has some but the most generalized city is San Francisco.

Billiam, you are going to love this!!

Baltimore is very misunderstood. It is generalized as a run down filthy crime infested hellhole, but I thought after visiting it a number of times that it is very nice. Baltimore has lots of culture, beautiful neighborhoods, harborplace, great colleges and history. Also in the running for the most misunderstood are Philly, Houston and Memphis

Dallas. People still think there are cowboys and wild west shootouts at noon.

I agree. I love Baltimore and think it is grossly misunderstood. Same goes for Memphis and Saint Louis.

Birmingham, Alabama. Honest to God, people come here expecting to see Klan rallies and lynching victims dangling from the light poles. It's just nothing like that.

Denver. People think it is in the mountains, and that we are knee-deep in snow at least 6 months a year. In fact, it is not in the mountains, and it rarely snows on snow around here; there are weeks of warm, sunny weather all winter long. We also aren't a bunch of cowboys still fighting the Native Americans.

I think St. Louis' crime reputation is overblown. Yeah, there's crime. But you can visit, live, work safely in the city. I think some people (even those who live near St. Louis) don't realize that.

I've ridden the MetroLink and walked around Downtown after dark. I'm still here!

I guess all of our own cities are the most misunderstood.

I think alot of cities are misunderstood in one way or another

I can speak on Albuquerque, most people dont even think much or know much about it at all and to some it is full of illegals, poor,a scorching hot desert city, people in smaller NM towns think its crime ridden, but there is alot more to the city, for being in the desert it is a very attractive city with some nice looking neighborhoods and a river and the largest cottonwood forest in the middle of the city.
