There are definitely people living in cars here in Oregon, I know of one woman where I work that is constantly sleeping in hers parked in the Walmart parking lot.

Walmart is a great place for sleeping in your car.

And to get robbed or car jacked. Here in KC it seems like every week there is at least one incident that occurs in a Wal Mart parking lot.

First off, the sleeping in cars is true. I read about it some time back.
I am interested to know where you are and could you explain more about the incidences in the Walmart parking lot? I have heard that some people will park and sleep in Walmart that have RV's. I haven't heard any of them having problems.
As far as car jacked, I had two of them right under my window within 6 months of each other at the condo I last lived in. So that can happen anywhere.
Some areas worse than others? Inquiring minds want to know.

The Wal Mart store in Independence, MO was the scene of a shooting twice this past spring. One of them resulted in a car jacking.

And last year, indirectly related. a high school girl was abducted from a KC area Target parking lot and murdered.

I've also seen other incidents in the news, mostly car thefts or car jackings at KC area Wal Marts. They seem to have an unusual number of problems here in the KC area.

I thought they were moving into their cars because that's where the best sound system is.

I guarantee that the number of Brazilians living in favelas is alot larger than the number of Americans living inside their cars. The other day I saw a Brazilian news channel called Globo that reported that just in the city of Sao Paulo alone there are over 3 million people living in the favelas.
