I need a job. Where in America is the economy NOT in the toilet?

It depends on what kind of job your looking for. Houston has alot of jobs in the energy sector as well as in the medical field and the cost of living is low. The weather and traffic here sucks but it's a price i'm willing to pay.

All of West Virginia is actually doing well. Our home values have increased because we were padded with lower, more average home prices far from the skyrocketing values in most metro markets. Our state government is collecting record amounts in severance taxes, etc. It could be better, but we're doing a lot better than a lot of the USA.

The only exception could be the eastern panhandle area, the home prices there were elevated from being a bedroom community of DC. So they're values have fallen and some rises in unemployment has also been reported.

Were doing okay here in Nebraska. Unemployment is still pretty low, we really don't have the real estate crisis like others, ag is going to have a good year and last year the state pulled in a surplus. South Dakota is also similar. Don't know if we would provide the job you are looking for.

Otherwise look at energy boom places like western North Dakota, Wyoming, and western Colorado. Wyoming has tons of jobs, but finding housing might be tough.

As I said yesterday in another similar thread, Little Rock, AR is poised to add jobs from several new and existing manufacturers. If you're an engineer, Dassault-Falconjet can't get enough people. They've been shipping them in from overseas to fill jobs and people I know have been working OT for 2 years.

My brother used to work for Dassault-Falconjet in Little Rock. The reason they can't find enough people to fill jobs is because they don't pay much. Plus it's hard to lure people to Little Rock (although my brother was surprised at how much they liked the city once they were there).

I am in Houston and here they say "What Recession"?? I don't see a thing wrong with the economy. Houston and most of Texas is doing better than ever right now.
