Are there any places which are not currently under the national park system that you think would make good national parks, national historic sites/monuments, national parkways, National Preserve and National Reserve, etc? please share!

Wow well...... We would be here all day if I were to make a list but here is a few.

Whitefish Dunes State Park - I think this Wisconsin State Park should be reclassified as a National Lakeshore.

Cape Mears NWR/State Scenic Viewpoint - This Oregon NWR/State Park is very rugged and should be more then just a NWR, perhaps a National Seashore.

Silver Falls State Park - Oregon State Park should be National Park. Sorry I have no free pics.

Well, technically the western half of Mt. Whitney is part of Sequoia National Park, but not the eastern (more visually impressive) half. Considering it's the highest point in the lower 48 states, and literally rises more than 2 miles above the adjacent valley, it would make sense that it had its own national park.

Natural Bridge State Park / Red River Gorge in Kentucky would make a great national park. They already recieve more visitors per year (2 to 3 million) than many national parks, including Mammoth Cave.

Default Kartchner Caverns in AZ

I have been to many places in this great country and have seen many national parks.

Without question the one place at the top of my list as a place that should be a national park and currently isn't is Kartchner Caverns state park in AZ.

It is by far one of the most well preserved caves in the world and has unique features you will not find anywhere.

But more importantly I chose this largely because the cost to preserve this park is insanely expensive and I don't think AZ can afford to do that forever.

I think this park would benefit a great deal if federal money comes in so that its preservation would be ensured.

I think the area around Sedona Arizona should have a national park or combine some of the state parks into 1 large national park. I always thought the White Mountains in Arizona or the Pinaleno Mountains should have became national parks also.
