I have no idea why LA would be on this list. Granted one could walk in the downtown and Hollywood areas and a few other areas, but LA is not by any means a place where one would think as a walkable area.

Los Angeles is a lot more walkable than people give it credit for. The city as a whole many not be as easy to navigate on foot as some others, but there are many pockets you can live in and walk to most of the amenities you need. The area I live in is quite walkable.

I would think NYC would be at the top of the list.

I agree that L.A. isn't too walkable compared to the likes of NYC and SF, but I'm hard pressed to think of many other cities in the country that have more walkable neighborhoods compared to L.A. that aren't already on the list. That's probably more of a sad reflection on the rest of the country than it is on L.A.

Has anyone else noticed how LA, despite being on the top 10, still only rates 67 out of 100? Even the top city only rates 86 out of a 100. Nothing rates in the 90s at all? Maybe even America's most walkable cities aren't very walkable in comparison to cities of the rest of the world?

I've walked around LA quite a bit and enjoyed it plenty.

Now driving around LA... that's the worst day ever.

You wouldn't happen to have a link to Walk Score would you. I'm curious as to how other cities scored.

This is a weird list, I can see NYC, Chicago, Philly , Boston and SF but where are Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Rochester, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Baltimore? These cities are all just as walkable as the top ones mentioned.
