Do airport stop-offs count? If so, I've been to probably around 28, 29...if not, like 24/25 or so.

I quickly glanced at a map to see how many states I've been to in my travels, and it's around 34. I've been to every state on the east coast, and have driven both I-80 and I-70 from the east coast to Colorado. So that takes care of a lot of states right there! We've also driven up to MT and out to CA, so I've seen a pretty big chunk of the country. I still need to see the south (AL, AR, TX, LA, MS) the pacific northwest, AK, HI, ID, ND, SD and the great lakes region. So, quite a bit left to see, but that's the exciting part :-)

Can't say I have spent a great deal of time in all the states I have been to but when my dad moved from Costa Mesa, CA to Cary, IL we drove a moving van across the country. The states we traveled through were:
California
Arizona
Nevada
Utah
Colorado
Nebraska
Iowa
and then Illinois
Also, for vacations I have visited:
Texas
Wisconsin
Minnesota
and Michigan

Around 30. Have not been to the upper tier states, from Montana to Michigan. Have not been to most of the Mississipi Valley States like Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana. And have not been to the New England states north of NY. As a kid we did long road trips from TX to Seattle and from TX to Washington DC so we hit alot of the states in between.

Of those, I'd like to go to Maine, Montana, and South Dakota (Mount Rushmore).
