I live in a ranch. If the basement w/gameroom and a sunken family room count, 3 floors.

"Cape Cod cottage" is how the real estate brochure described my house in Decatur; two floors, crawlspace but no basement. My house on St Simons is low country style; one story, attic, no basement (no such thing in coastal GA) and a wraparound porch.

Folks...

If you live in a ranch house, then count it as one floor and NOT two even if you have a basement.
If the basement is in its own floor, then count it as two.

If you live in colonial, then it's 3 floors with the basement downstairs.

A built-out basement with carpeting and two other floors. We only use the attic to store suitcases.

3, I grew up in a house with 4, and my aunt has 5 (brownstone, very cool). Only time I've seen 5.

3 counting the finished basement. From the front view it looks like it's 2 stories, from the back it looks like it's 3 because of the hill.

Two floors. We don't have basements in California and our attic isn't finished, so just two stories.
