MIA has been in the spotlight since the 70s and Atlanta just recently started getting attention. Houston has never gotten as much attention and publicity as these cities.

Why would you include the entire UC system? It's not like kids at UC Davis are getting taught by the professors of UC Berkley.
Only counting Nobel Laureates who received the award at their time at the University is a silly distinction. When the big, rich schools like UChicago or Harvard buy previous Nobel winners from other schools, don't the students benefit all the same?

Are you talking about growth or are you talking about exposure. If you're talking about growth, Miami, Atlanta, and Houston has grown at the same time. Exposure is a different story and you're right when it comes to that. I will say that Miami has been more popular longer than the 70s.
